Bannock is a flat quick bread cooked in the over or over a fire by Canadian Anishinaabe. Berries, fish eggs, or wild rice can be added. The terms bakwezhigan and bakwezhiganikaan can be used for bannock in the Border Lakes region. There and elsewhere, gibozigan is often used for a loaf of bread baked in an oven.
